Do Not Weep For Me

Bish bosh done. Today I’m choosing not to allow much time for editing, just raw response to the crucifixion story from my morning prayers (Luke 23:26-43).

Treading slowly
knife edge path
I found my way guided
by a star
silent Light filled
with song drew me on
a winding way
it had to be
a searching way
accumulating dust
with every step
stardust to keep
washing the rest away

At the last leaving the mountain
path behind climbed
the hollow hill where the view
was not inspiring
but perfect
exactly what needed
to be
the metaled last ascent
cut my tender feet to ribbons
and your tears fell to mingle
with my blood

You saw
but could not find joy
coiled up inside
in such a place
at such a time
could not conceive
our child of joy and mourning
will be born
three mornings time

Just wait
a little longer Mary
and do not weep for me
