Pentax MX with 35mm Kodak TMax 400 film. I think the TMax 400 is becoming my favourite film stock. I love the texture I can feel in my photographs. The extra flexibility of ISO 400 is really helpful, and the last two rolls of film have been full of pictures I want to keep and look at more closely. I’ve grouped photographs for the purpose of blogging, but these were taken over several days exploring Weardale.
I started with a building I’ve admired from the road as I cycle past. I know I probably shouldn’t have risked going inside… however it was really interesting to use the building to frame the landscape; either from inside out, or through the broken windows.

Further down the road there is a new building development. It takes a lot of energy to pile bricks on top of each other, and not much energy at all to allow them to crumble.

There are plenty of opportunities for more photographs of rural decay. All photographs taken with Pentax MX, SMC 50mm f1.4, Kodak 400 TMax black & white 35mm film. Copyright © 2026, Graeme Holdsworth, all rights reserved.
