Over the course of a few days on Spiritual Retreat, I used a roll of Rollei IR film, and a roll of Kodak Ultramax trying to find film photography inspiration in a familiar place.

I’m still trying to work out what I’d like to take film based photographs of here in Weardale. I don’t particularly feel drawn to landscapes, but there are a lot of decaying buildings and structures littered across the landscape

There is a short walk from Frosterley along the Weardale Way which allows us to wander the ruins of Harehope[…]

The first roll of film through a secondhand Minolta XG-9 and I can see some problems with the images. There are light leaks and there is a scratch of blue along the bottom of each image. Lovely photographs though.

A difficult day, the film was both under and over exposed and I was trying to do some street photography… which I’m not fast enough to do.

It takes a lot of energy to pile bricks on top of each other, and not much to let them crumble, 35mm black and white photographs.
