In the bleak

I was given a selection box of 35mm film for Christmas, and spent a couple of days between work appointments trying to look at the world through the lens. This is FujiFilm 200 colour film, and I was using my only SLR: a Pentax MX. This random collection of photographs are from around Slaithwaite and Huddersfield, in West Yorkshire. The first few were taken while the snow struggled to melt…

I was struck by this billboard, because presumably a fashion company paid a lot of money to have their clothes showcased to passing motorists. The media company boast of an AI system to help target advertising locations. As an amateur photographer, I wonder what the professional thinks to the placement of their work.

In this photograph, my inner schoolboy appreciated the humour of the two signs…. yeah… childish I know.

Finally, cycling out of Huddersfield on the Narrow Canal Towpath, I passed my favourite set of fire escape ladders.
